Course Description
Sequent's core curriculum helps product managers learn how to interpret processes and utilize best practices to optimize the performance of their products and services. However, the incorporation of these methods and tools is dependent on the ability of management to coach, guide, and develop the skills of product managers and marketers. This course offers a framework to help those managers to cultivate the experience profiles and competencies of the practitioners for whom they are responsible, within the context of our unique process models, tools, and best practices.
The course begins with an overview of the current trends and business issues faced by modern organizations, as well as an overview of the most important practices used by best-in-class companies around the world -- companies we've benchmarked over the past 16 years! We'll provide you with a foundation in product management activities used across the life cycle, from new product development, commercialization, and the efficient management of existing products.
One of the most important dimensions of this program has to do with establishing experiential guidance for product managers and product marketing managers. We'll show you how to secure a baseline understanding of their key skills and experiences, and how you can use that to create experiential performance plans and objectives so that your employees can grow and learn. Finally, we'll equip you with the key coaching skills you'll need to build rapport, communicate effectively, and improve performance.
The overarching goal of this class is to develop the manager's expertise and understanding in the following areas:
